5 Axis Milling
Speed and accuracy are essential to our customers, which is why we utilise one of the fastest 5-axis milling machines in the world.
5-axis CNC milling machines allow us to manufacture more complex components, thanks to the ability to orientate the component to any position or angle. We mainly use our five axis machines for high speed surfacing on complex aluminium components, but they can be utilised for a variety of designs.
Our 5-axis Mikron Machines are one of the fastest machines in the world for high speed machining – these machines are able to surface aluminum at speeds of 36000 rpm and can move at speeds of up to 90m per minute.
Our Hermle C32 machine offers less speed (18000 rpm) but more power, enabling us to carry out jobs that require more material removal.
We also have over 20 3-axis and 4-axis VMCs which are regularly used for less complex requirements.
More often than not, new designs present unexpected problems.
Because of this, prototyping is important in CNC milling to allow us to test the concept or process exercised to make the product. The results of the prototyping will either be replicated or learned from.
Prototyping allows the chance to evaluate the design and answer any queries. Engineers use the prototype to explore options for design alternatives, test theories and confirm performance prior to mass production of the product. Crucially, prototyping saves companies a lot of money by allowing changes to be made early on in the process. Any changes made after mass production starts will be far more costly than correcting any inaccuracies and inefficiencies in the early stages.
Prototyping also allows ideas to evolve – this development period is the driving force behind understanding the feasibility of the design and may lead to a more effective solution.
At Hemlock, we offer stock holding facilities which allow us to deliver products as and when you need them.
To ensure regular replenishment through scheduled deliveries, we manufacture the desired quantity of your product and provide secure storage in our dedicated stock holding facility. This flexibility ensures you’ll always have access to the product your company needs to run smoothly.
High quality, precision engineered products every time.
We utilize advanced CAD CAM technology every day at Hemlock. Using CAD CAM allows us to use the system to design products and then control the manufacturing processes involved in making that product. Once a design has been created within CAD, this design then controls the machines that construct the parts. This results in precision engineered products of the highest quality that are all exactly the same, regardless of quantity.
At Hemlock, we strive to deliver the best quality work to our clients.
It is therefore imperative that we choose only the best equipment to generate the best output. Our choice is the expertise of the Mitutoyo CMM. Mitutoyo is the worldwide leader in the development of output gages, data collectors and analysis software. In addition, the one-of-a-kind technological advancement of Mitutoyo paves the way for us to push measuring accuracies into the micro-meter range.
A Mitutoyo CMM is designed using the latest CAD techniques and we are proud to incorporate this milling giant into our day-to-day production at Hemlock. The latest CAD techniques that complement a Mitutoyo CMM produce an output that is not only of unfaltering quality, but is also made from the best materials. The unparalleled technological expertise of the leader in metrology enables the combined skills of both Mitutoyo and Hemlock to produce any CNC milled output in a timely manner, which is essential in this naturally fast-paced industry.
It is important that the products we manufacture are provided in a form that is as useful as possible to our clients
It is for this reason we offer sub assembly. Our dedicated assembly team will assemble a collection of parts to your specification, at the highest level of quality.
